Welcome to Tetopath.com

Welcome to Tetopath

“Teto” in Tetopath stands for “to each their own.”
For us, that simple phrase carries a powerful meaning: to each their own path.

Recovery is deeply personal. What works for one person may not work for another, and we believe people deserve clear, honest information about the many different ways they can find support for addictive behaviors — whether for themselves or for someone they love.

Tetopath was created by me and my wife, Susan, with one goal in mind: to provide a simple, welcoming place where people can explore recovery options and discover the path that fits them best.

Our Story

My own journey to sobriety was long, frustrating, and often discouraging.

For many years, I struggled to get sober. I attended treatment facilities four different times, and every one of them was centered around the traditional 12-step model. I truly gave it my all. I worked the steps, had sponsors, attended meetings regularly, and became involved in the 12-step community.

But despite my efforts, it never truly worked for me. I never even received a 6-month sobriety pin.

I want to be very clear about something: I have seen 12-step programs change lives. Many people close to me have found lasting recovery through them, and I respect the impact those programs have had for countless individuals.

It simply wasn’t the right fit for me.

Everything changed when I discovered SMART Recovery.

For the first time, I found a recovery approach that made sense to me personally. I found a community where I was not told I was powerless. I didn’t have to identify myself as an alcoholic or addict every time I spoke. I wasn’t required to believe in a higher power. Most importantly, I was encouraged to understand that I was capable of managing my own recovery.

SMART Recovery taught me that I could build the skills needed to change my life — and that I didn’t need a sponsor to do it.

That approach was a game changer.

I have now been sober since June of 2018.

Building A Life in Recovery

After getting sober, I wanted to help others who might feel the same confusion and frustration I once felt.

I attended training in Minnesota and became a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS). I also wrote a book about my personal journey to sobriety titled Inspirational Dissatisfaction.

Eventually, I found an opportunity to work with SMART Recovery itself — helping others discover recovery options that may better fit their needs and beliefs.

Through all of these experiences, Susan and I realized something important:

Many people simply don’t know that there are multiple pathways to recovery.

Too often, people are told there is only one right way to get sober. But recovery is not one-size-fits-all.

That’s why we created Tetopath.

Our Mission

Tetopath is designed to be a quick-reference resource for people seeking help for addictive behaviors and for the loved ones supporting them.

Our mission is simple:

  • To provide clear explanations of different recovery approaches
  • To help people understand their options
  • To reduce confusion and stigma
  • To encourage hope
  • And to help every person find the path that works best for them

Because recovery is personal.

To each their own path.

Thank you for being here!

Whether you are seeking help for yourself, supporting someone you love, or simply exploring your options, we’re glad you found us.

We hope Tetopath helps you take the next step toward healing, growth, and lasting change.

Welcome to Tetopath.

My Jouney

Through years of battling multiple addictions, I finally found a pathway that worked for me.  The struggle to find that pathway took me over 40 years to find.  Here is my book which explains what I went through to finally find hope.

I hope you are able to find the inspiration without the need for dissatisfaction!
