Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-step program designed to help people overcome "hurts, habits, and hang-ups". Rather than focusing solely on substance abuse, it addresses a wide range of struggles, including anxiety, co-dependency, grief, eating disorders, and relational issues.

Celebrate Recovery 3 Core Components of the Program

  • The 12 Steps & 8 Principles: The curriculum adapts the traditional 12 steps by pairing them with eight guiding principles based on Jesus's Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount.
  • Weekly Meetings: Meetings are typically hosted at local churches and feature large group sessions (worship and teaching) followed by smaller, gender-specific "open share" groups focused on specific issues.
  • Step Studies: Participants can join closed, ongoing small groups that work through the program's four comprehensive participant guides together.

How It Compares

  • Faith-Based Focus: Unlike secular programs like SMART Recovery or LifeRing, Celebrate Recovery identifies Jesus Christ explicitly as the "Higher Power".
  • Broad Scope: Only about one-third of participants attend for drug or alcohol addiction. The rest seek support for emotional, relational, or behavioral challenges.
  • Confidentiality: Groups follow strict anonymity and confidentiality guidelines, emphasizing sharing personal experiences without crosstalk or advice-giving.

Celebrate Recovery is an open, drop-in style program, meaning you can typically attend a meeting without prior sign-up or long-term commitment.
